The Product

The dbx DB-12 is a single channel active DI box which employs a premium custom shielded audio transformer to isolate the main output, and housed in a rugged stackable enclosure with rubber feet. The main instrument/line/speaker input is high impedance, and presented on a ¼" jack with a parallel through jack also provided, both filtered against radio frequencies. A switchable pad is also provided for level matching and offers 0dB, -20dB and -40dB settings, along with a phase reverse switch, earth lift switch and switchable low pass filter. The balanced output is low impedance and presented on a gold plated Neutrik XLR connector.

Requires phantom power to function.

The Manufacturer

dbx was founded in 1971 by David Blackmer who started his career working in professional recording studios. He developed a new process called linear decibel companding, a process considered at the time to be many times more effective than Dolby in reducing tape noise. Although the company went on to develop a range of signal processing equipment for use in recording studios, it was always best known for its noise reduction designs. After several mergers and acquisitions dbx is now owned by Harman International and continues to develop and manufacture a wide range of signal processing equipment which represent a solid build quality, a musical sound quality and excellent value for money.
