The dbx 266XL is a dual channel 1U rack mounting compressor/limiter/gate boasting the legendary dbx pedigree and engineering build quality. The 'Auto Dynamic' circuitry continuously adjusts the actual attack and release times to optimally match the program material. The advanced gate circuitry uses a completely new program-dependant timing algorithm to produce ultra-smooth characteristics, even with complex signals. Stereo and dual mono modes as well as precision LED metering contribute to make this a useful tool in recording and live music environments.

The Manufacturer

dbx was founded in 1971 by David Blackmer who started his career working in professional recording studios. He developed a new process called linear decibel companding, a process considered at the time to be many times more effective than Dolby in reducing tape noise. Although the company went on to develop a range of signal processing equipment for use in recording studios, it was always best known for its noise reduction designs. After several mergers and acquisitions dbx is now owned by Harman International and continues to develop and manufacture a wide range of signal processing equipment which represent a solid build quality, a musical sound quality and excellent value for money.
