The Product

The dbx 1231 is a 2U rack mounting single channel 31 band graphic equaliser designed to meet the needs of the most demanding sound reinforcement environments. It features constant Q frequency bands and has an extremely wide frequency response with a 109dB dynamic range. Global switches determine the boost/cut range to be either ± 6 or 12dB. Simple metering is provided via four segment LED's, the input gain can be adjusted between ± 12dB and the audio inputs and outputs are balanced on XLR, ¼" Jack and barrier strip. This product is built to the usual exacting standards of dbx in terms of mechanical and electronic robustness.

The Manufacturer

dbx was founded in 1971 by David Blackmer who started his career working in professional recording studios. He developed a new process called linear decibel companding, a process considered at the time to be many times more effective than Dolby in reducing tape noise. Although the company went on to develop a range of signal processing equipment for use in recording studios, it was always best known for its noise reduction designs. After several mergers and acquisitions dbx is now owned by Harman International and continues to develop and manufacture a wide range of signal processing equipment which represent a solid build quality, a musical sound quality and excellent value for money.
