The Product

The dbx 1074 offers four independent channels of gating in a convenient 1U rack mounting package. It features independent key filtering, threshold and release controls and true RMS level detection on each channel. Stereo coupling capability and switchable input levels make this a versatile and rock solid piece of equipment, a must for those requiring accurate and flexible multiple channel gating. Equally well suited to studio recording, broadcast and live music.

The Manufacturer

dbx was founded in 1971 by David Blackmer who started his career working in professional recording studios. He developed a new process called linear decibel companding, a process considered at the time to be many times more effective than Dolby in reducing tape noise. Although the company went on to develop a range of signal processing equipment for use in recording studios, it was always best known for its noise reduction designs. After several mergers and acquisitions dbx is now owned by Harman International and continues to develop and manufacture a wide range of signal processing equipment which represent a solid build quality, a musical sound quality and excellent value for money.
