The Product

The Tascam MD-02 is a well-equipped minidisc recorder combining proven minidisc technology and simple operation in one compact 2U rack mounting unit. It features four recording/playback modes including LP2 (double recording time) and LP4 (four times recording time), and offers basic editing functions to divide, combine, move and erase tracks on the disc. The unit also offers input monitoring without a disc inserted and a sample rate converter to record from 32kHz and 48kHz digital sources. An auto-recording function starts and stops recording automatically depending on the input level. While recording, track numbers can be set manually or automatically by time or level and tracks can be faded in and out which is an extremely useful function.

Digital coaxial and optical inputs and outputs with digital level control are provided as standard. Analogue inputs and outputs are presented unbalanced on phono connectors. The unit is further equipped with an headphone output and associated level control and a PS2 computer keyboard connector for easy titling and control. An RC-MD20 wireless remote control is also supplied with the unit and mains power is supplied via a removable three pin IEC power cable. As the only newly manufactured professional minidisc recorder on the market, the MD-02 is a perfect replacement for older units making it possible to use this well loved and versatile recording media for many more years to come.
