The Product

The Sound Devices MP-1 is a compact portable single channel microphone preamplifier, well proven in mission-critical applications. The electronics are housed in an incredibly robust metal chassis with both audio inputs and outputs being transformer balanced. On the bottom on the MP-1 is located the balanced microphone input presented on a 3-pole female XLR connector and also the balanced line output presented on a 3-pole male XLR connector. Adjicent to the input connector is a slide switch to apply phantom power at either 12V or 48V or off. Access to the battery compartment is also on this panel and is powered by two AA batteries.

The front or top panel has a large rotary gain control with eleven positions, a power switch with associated LED, a limiter on/off switch wilh associated LED and a high-pass filter switch offfering 6dB per octave roll of at either 80Hz or 160Hz or flat.

The MP-1 is extremely durable and easy to use. With rugged mechanical and electrical construction and high-quality components it will provide years of superb audio performance under the most punishing field conditions.
