The Product

The Shure WCM16 is a headworn electret condenser microphone is intended for use by performers, lecturers, and others who require the highest quality voice pickup with maximum mobility. Its wide frequency response, low RF susceptibility and reliable operation at temperature and humidity extremes make it suitable for virtually any vocal application. Miniaturized active circuitry included in the cartridge assembly provides equalization that tailors the low-frequency response to resemble the warm proximity effect of larger vocal microphones. As a consequence of this low-end response, it is not necessary to position the microphone directly in front of the mouth, thus avoiding possible popping and breath noise, even without the foam pop screen. The hypercardioid unidirectional pickup pattern delivers maximum isolation from ambient noise and from adjacent sound sources such as musical instruments, loudspeakers and other performers. This also permits higher gain before feedback without loss or masking of vocals. It has an integral 1.5m cable which is terminated in a TA4F connector, compatible with Shure bodypack transmitter models SLX1, ULX1 and UR1, and comes supplied with a foam windshield.

The Manufacturer

From humble beginnings in 1925 as a radio parts wholesaler in downtown Chicago USA, Shure has grown to become one of the worlds most popular microphone brands bar none. Over and over again Shure microphones have stood the test of time with many of the models having been in production for over thirty years, which is a testament to the original designs. Most musicians, engineers and recording artists at some stage in their careers would have used Shure microphones and today the brand continues to lead the way with the Beta and KSM series.
