The Shure SM81-LC is a high-quality, cardioid condenser microphone designed for studio recording, broadcasting, and sound reinforcement. Its wide flat frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz, low noise characteristics, and low radio frequency susceptibility have made it a standard for applications involving acoustic instruments, especially guitar, piano, and cymbals. Its cardioid polar pattern is uniform with frequency and symmetric about axis, providing maximum rejection and minimum colouration of off-axis sounds. It incorporates a user selectable low-frequency response of flat, 6 or 18dB/octave rolloff and a 0dB/10dB lockable attenuator switch to reduct output in certain circumstances. It operates on phantom power and performs over a wide range of temperatures and humidity conditions. It is furnished with a swivel adapter, attenuator-switch lock, foam windscreen, and case for carrying and storage.
