The Product

The Retell Watsonmic 160 is an audio coupling device for recording both sides of a telephone conversation. It works by placing the small foam disc into the ear then the telephone handset is placed on the ear in the normal way. Sound is channeled down the grey acoustic pipe, which could easily be mistaken for a cable, to the body of a 3.5mm 2-pole mini jack which houses the transducer. It is powered by plug-in power which is a feature found on a large number of audio recorders and laptop computers.

As a consequence of a hollow tube being used as an acoustic waveguide, channelling the signal acoustically to the transducer housed in the connector, the Watsonmic 160 does not suffer from electromagnetic inteference when recording in the vicinity of mobile and cordless telephones.

Used in many TV productions including BBC's Ground Force and Channel 4's Mark Thomas Comedy Product.
