The Product

The Radial PRO-AV1 is a single channel passive DI box designed specifically for audio visual applications. It employs a custom wound audio transformer, that converts the impedance and balances the line while providing exceptional common mode rejection, it also eliminates noise associated with ground loops. To further reduce susceptibility to noise, the transformer is encapsulated in a nickel metal can, thus preventing radio frequency and electromagnetic induction. The case is incredibly tough manufactured from 14 gauge steel, incorporating an I beam chassis format with a bookend style outer casing, resulting in a product capable of withstanding the worst possible rock and roll abuse.

Features include a main signal input presented on a ¼" jack with an associated through output also on a ¼" jack, a passively summed stereo input presented on both phono connectors and stereo 3.5mm jack, also with associated through output, a defeatable balanced +4dBu line level input, and a 15dB pad for signal matching. The main line output is on 3 pole male XLR connector and a ground lift switch has been provided to quickly deal with earth loop hum problems.

The Manufacturer

The company began operations in 1991 as the Canadian distributor of Mogami cable and Jensen Audio Transformers. In 1992, it became a limited corporation under the JP Cabletek Electronics Limited banner. The Radial name was first used on house branded cables and multicore systems, but today over fifty electronic products are now being produced under the Radial, Tonebone and Forest Audio brands. Radial products are extremely rugged and can withstand the rigors and abuse associated with touring and live music.
