The Product

The DRM85 FlashMic is the world's first digital recording microphone which combines a studio quality omni-directional dynamic mic capsule with a broadcast quality Flash recorder and high-speed USB file transfer. It makes it easy to capture and deliver high quality recordings, leaving the journalist free to concentrate on the story. It supports linear PCM file format at 32kHz, 44.1kHz and 48kHz and MPEG 1 Layer 2 at 128kbps, 160kbps and 192kbps. It has an internal memory capacity of 1GB giving up to 18 hours of recording time, depending upon the recording format.

It incorporates a back-lit LCD display indicating time, level and status, a USB interface for transfer of audio data which can also be used for configuration and firmware updates and a useful headphone output on a 3.5mm Jack with level control. It uses just two AA batteries and low battery power is indicated with a visual warning, ensuring that important material is not lost during recording. A pre-record buffer ensures that the start of interviews are not clipped and a record time indicator gives visual warning of remaining time available.
