The Product

The Fostex CR500 is a professional master CD-R/RW recorder which offers the world’s first direct Broadcast WAV recording to a UDF formatted disc at up to 24bit/96kHz resolution. Other recording recolutions available are 16 bit 44.1kHz/48kHz and 24bit 44.1kHz/48kHz/88.2kHz. Features include easy data transfer via simple ‘cut & paste’ instead of time-consuming real-time audio ripping, both EAS/EBU and S/PDIF digital inputs and outputs, balanced and unbalanced analogue inputs and outputs on XLR and phono and a useful front panel USB connector for connection of standard PC USB keyboard for easy file name editing and simple transport controls. Other useful tools inclide instant play function, power-on play for installations, fader start, ten memory points and program play mode with up to 99 songs per disc.

The front panel is well laid out making the controls intuitive to use and the large back-lit display and LED metering gives essential information to the user. The CR500 is perfectly equipped for use in all professional audio disciplines including, studio mastering, broadcast, live touring, and location recording, corporate production and project studios. Overall this is a well thoughtout and professionally built product delivering excellent value for money.
