The Product
The Marantz CDR310 is the first truly portable affordable compact disc based field recorder. It is suitable for a wide range of uses including documentation, duplication, or archiving freeing the user from the constraints of studio based fixed solutions. This unit incorporates an internal hard drive holding up to 110 hours of material (MP3 mono), recording 16 bit audio in CD-DA, WAV, AIFF or MP3 file formats, which in turn enables the user to burn a compact disc instantly.
At the conclusion of a meeting or event, an audio file can be burned to CD instantly by simply pressing the Make CD button and the CDR310 will ask if you want to burn to a CD. By following the on-screen prompts, the disc will be ready in minutes. For events over 80 minutes long in CD-DA format, the CDR310 offers CD Split burning, dividing the contents over multiple discs automatically.
One-touch record operation and an easy-to-read LCD status screen ensure fault-free recording, even for non-technical operators. Its lightweight design and battery operation capability makes the CDR310 equally at home inside an office or out in the field. In the absence of mains power the unit accepts AA alkaline batteries, or optional Ni-Cd and Ni-MH rechargeables. Using the optional RB1651 battery, the CDR310 delivers up to four hours of continuous operation.
Analog line level and balanced high perfomance XLR microphone inputs are included, as well as a SPDIF digital input and output with high quality A-D converters. The CDR310 also provides +48V phantom power, and even has an integrated condenser microphone and playback speaker for quick recording needs. Remote control is also available by using the optional RC600PMD.
The Manufacturer
Marantz was officially founded in 1953 by Saul Bernard Marantz, a native of New York born in 1911. Unhappy with equipment available at the time, Saul spent many hours in his basement constructing amplifiers which ultimately found favour with like minded audio professionals. From these humble beginnings, Marantz has become a highly respected manufacturer and innovator of Hi Fi and broadcast related products throughout the world.
