The Product
The Denon DN-S3700 is a direct drive turntable, media player and controller designed for the hardworking modern DJ. It is a cutting-edge single-deck portable instrument that provides all the essentials plus a host of advanced features for enhanced creative flexibility. With the large 9" spinning platter design, the DN-S3700 literally offers the best of both worlds from both the digital and analogue realms, combining rock solid digital audio with the feel and response of a real 9" vinyl turntable, driven by a high torque direct drive motor.
The DN-S3700 features a unique directional scratch lever which allows the DJ to manipulate the platter motion of output sound in two ways, the traditional vinyl cueing sound, referred to as Both, and the ingenious Forward Stroke sound to perform the same cuts as if you were using the crossfader on a mixer. The DN-S3700 is well equipped for the modern DJ and conveniently supports external USB mass storage class devices, including iPod, thumb drive, and large hard drives for easy access to small or extensive MP3 and WAV libraries up to 50,000 files in size. By plugging any one of these devices into the DN-S3700 you can access the powerful on-board features such as, instant start, auto looping, hot starts, effects and much more.
For the more creative DJ Denon have incorporated a digital effects processor offering a flanger, filter, echo and echo-loop with access to parameters and dry/wet mixing. Three platter effects offer the ability to break with real time adjust, dump or radio edit where you can reverse sound without loosing forward time and reverse playback.
Audio line outputs are unbalanced presented on phono sockets, with the addition of a SPDIF digital output, also presented on a (coaxial) phono socket. Mains power is applied via a captive cable with the power switch on the rear panel to prevent accidental switching.
The Manufacturer
The Denon brand roots can be traced back as far as 1910, when Frederick Whitney Horn set up a company manufacturing recording equipment, considered primitive by modern standards. Through several mergers throughout the 1920s and 1940s the Denon brand was born and today it enjoys a world wide reputation for quality and innovation at very affordable prices. Its portfolio covers the pro audio, entertainment and Hi Fi industries and is a brand which is relied upon by many modern broadcasters and performers.
