The Product
The Rycote 086 001 Windshield Kit 4 is comprised of a Modular Suspension with Pistol Grip, Windshield 4, Windjammer 4, ConnBox 1 and accessories.
The Modular Suspension has a 160mm bar fitted with two universal black lyres resulting in a lightweight effective unit that will fit a wide range of microphones. The Windshield 4 has an overall length of 330mm excluding end caps, and is manufactured from flexible grey plastic netting tube with a screening material bonded internally which delivers lightweight strength and durability. The two endcaps are easily removed and replaced with a simple twist and locking action ensuring a secure and rattle free fastening. The basket attaches to the modular suspension with a unique slide-on/slide-off system allowing easy removal of the microphone assembly.
The Windjammer 4 is the most effective cover produced yet providing 10dB to 12db extra protection over the standard Windshield. It is manufactured from a specially developed screening material with virtually no adverse effect on sound quality or level and fitting is made easy and snug by the use of a drawstring and toggle.
The ConnBox 1 has been designed to isolate and eradicate cable-borne mechanical noise from reaching the microphone, acting as a transition connector and anchor point for the microphone tail. Very high quality components are used in the construction, such as gold plated Neutrik XLR connectors and ultra soft Mogami starquad cable. The lengths of cable have been cut to work perfectly with the designated microphone fitted in the windshield, without it making contact with the internal surface of the windshield basket. The soft cable greatly reduces the transmission path of cable-borne noise, consequently reducing cable rumble.
