The Product
The Roland Cakewalk MA-7A are stereo reference monitors finished blue, and are the ideal solution for musicians and computer users who demand the best audio quality possible in a very confined space. Although they have a small footprint, they are capable of producing incredible sound, uncommon for speakers of such a compact size. These speakers are ideal for desktop or nearfield use, where space is of the utmost consideration.
The design features a built-in bass enhancer, which operates on psychoacoustic principles, converting low frequencies into a series of overtones the human ear cannot distinguish from the original. This allows the listener to perceive bass frequencies outside of the normal range of the speaker cone, without overdriving the woofer. In addition to this enhanced low end performance, a sub output has been provided giving the user the option of connecting a separate cabinet.
Bass, treble and volume controls are conveniently located on the front panel, along with a headphone output, an input connector and power switch. You can connect two different sources directly into the MA-7A, allowing you to listen to audio from any two line level sources. When plugging headphones into the front 3.5mm jack socket, the monitors are automatically muted, allowing the user to continue to mix without disturbing others. The MA-7A is magnetically shielded, allowing them to be used in close proximity to computer monitors and TV screens without interference.
Priced and packed as a pair.
The Manufacturer
The Roland corporation is a Japanese manufacturer of electronic musical instruments, electronic equipment and software and was founded by Kabushiki Kaisha in 1972 in Osaka. Roland has been pivotal in developing benchmark electronic musical instruments such as the Juno 60 and Jupiter 8 synths used in the forefront of 1980's pop music by the likes of Howard Jones, Duran Duran and Culture Club. Many original Roland sounds and modules have re-surfaced as samples and plug-ins which emulate the retro feel of the original hardware. Today Roland has factories in the US, Italy, and Tiwan and employs over 2200 staff. Roland has survived many changes in the industry and still remains at the cutting edge of electronic music technology to this day.
