The Product
The Roland Cakewalk MA-15D are two way active digital stereo monitors finished in blue, and are ideal for a number of professional and consumer uses. They are equally at home as studio reference monitors or as a second set of monitors to use in a surround sound configuration, offering a wide range audio spectrum and crystal clear reproduction.
The design features a built-in bass enhancer, which operates on psychoacoustic principles, converting low frequencies into a series of overtones the human ear cannot distinguish from the original. This allows the listener to perceive bass frequencies outside of the normal range of the speaker cone, without overdriving the woofer. In addition to this enhanced low end performance, a sub output has been provided giving the user the option of connecting a separate cabinet.
Two stereo line inputs are provided on the rear panel, one on a 3.5mm jack and the other on a pair of phono connectors, and a further digital input is provided on both optical and phono (coaxial) S/PDIF connectors, supporting 24-bit/192kHz sources. Bass, treble and level controls are conveniently located on the front panel, along with a power switch, power LED, and a headphone output presented on a ¼" jack.
The MA-15Ds are also magnetically shielded for use in close proximity to computer monitors or television screens without interference.
Priced and packed as a pair.
The Manufacturer
The Roland corporation is a Japanese manufacturer of electronic musical instruments, electronic equipment and software and was founded by Kabushiki Kaisha in 1972 in Osaka. Roland has been pivotal in developing benchmark electronic musical instruments such as the Juno 60 and Jupiter 8 synths used in the forefront of 1980's pop music by the likes of Howard Jones, Duran Duran and Culture Club. Many original Roland sounds and modules have re-surfaced as samples and plug-ins which emulate the retro feel of the original hardware. Today Roland has factories in the US, Italy, and Tiwan and employs over 2200 staff. Roland has survived many changes in the industry and still remains at the cutting edge of electronic music technology to this day.
