The Product

The Ambersil TW-226 are a pack of 30 tough, industrial strength, textured, high absorbency, hand cleaning wipes which effectively remove oil, grease, grime, paint, inks, adhesives, lubricants and bitumen. Ideal for service engineers in most industries. They are textured on one side with a non-scratching polymeric abrasive to actively loosen ingrained soiling and smooth on the other side for improved absorbency so the dirt does not transfer back onto the skin. Virtually odourless and no residue is left on the hands. Contains a bactericide to combat Weils Disease (Leptosira)and are non-hazardous to user or environment.

The Manufacturer

Ambersil is a brand name of CRC, a company formed in the spring of 1958 by Charles J Webb, a successful entrepreneur in the wool industry, who was interested in diversifying his business. He became aware of a new chemical anti-corrosion product being marketed by a West Coast US company and was intrigued by its sales potential. He travelled to California and made a verbal agreement to distribute the product east of the Mississippi and in Europe.

It was only a question of time before he decided to create his own manufacturing company and on the 6th October 1958, a company called Corrosion Reaction Consultants Incorporated was born. For the next first few years the company just sold one product, their CRC Corrosion Inhibitor. As its name suggests, the product was a multi-purpose lubricant used to suppress corrosion in mechanical and electrical machinery. In 1963 CRC decided to specialize by developing products that target specific requirements in the automotive, industrial, electrical, marine and aviation markets. This approach was very successful and was followed by the development of a wide range of complementary products.

Over the years, many new products have been developed and today CRC offers a complete range of quality cleaners, lubricants, corrosion inhibitors, protective coatings, degreasers, greases, additives and speciality products which have been tailored for specific customer maintenance and repair needs.
