The Acoustic Energy AE1-Classic is a two way passive monitor comprised of a 25mm metal dome tweeter with protective grille and a 90mm alloy bass driver integrated into an acoustically treated, ultra low resonance cabinet.

It is 18 years since the AE1 Reference first wowed reviewers and became the audio-industry benchmark for compact loudspeaker design, and to celebrate, it has been re-introduced back in the original form and still made in the United Kingdom. Designed from the outset as a semi-professional monitor, painstaking attention to detail in the design and construction of cabinets, crossovers and baffles ensure the new AE1 Classic reproduces complex, dynamic material as faithful as the award winning original.

Despite its diminutive size the AE1 Classic offers the soundstage, depth and breadth of much larger loudspeakers thanks to its innovative metal drivers and reflex ported cabinet. The extremely rigid design and high power handling creates a sophisticated blend of clarity, speed and dynamics that once again sets the standard for small box loudspeakers in the studio.

The Manufacturer

Acoustic Energy was founded in 1987 and originally based in West London before relocating to its current facility in the Cotswolds. In 1988 the AE1 was launched and originally designed to satisfy the needs of the professional audio sector by offering compact dimensions, great accuracy, precise stereo imaging, dynamics and transparency coupled with high power handling and linearity. The AE1 quickly gained a global reputation with musicians, recording artists and studio engineers and in 1991 and 1992 it won the British HiFi Award for Best Speaker. Acoustic Energy continues to develop and produce monitors for the pro studio and HiFi markets with a great range of superb products.
