The Product

The AKG C518ML is the ultimate miniature condenser microphone for drums and percussion with its cardioid polar pattern rejecting overspill from nearby instruments. A continuously adjustable vise-type clamp makes it easy to fix the microphone securely on the top hoop of most drums or percussion instruments. An external shock mount provides high mechanical-noise rejection and a special snap-on stabilizer knee will keep the gooseneck bent at a defined angle. It also features an integrated, switchable bass cut for adjusting the microphone’s frequency response to your instrument’s sound. It has a detachable 1.5m cable which is terminated in a miniature 3 pole XLR connector which is compatible with AKG WMS series wireless systems. It may be used as a wired microphone but to do so you need to use either the AKG MPA VL phantom power adaptor or the AKG B29L battery power supply.

The Manufacturer

AKG was founded in 1947 by Dr Rudolf Goerike and Ernst Pless and within months their beautifully hand built microphones were being used in radio stations, theatres and jazz clubs. Within two years AKG produced their first pair of headphones, which were quickly followed by other innovative products such as the worlds first high quality condenser microphone.
